Intimate & Fun Winter Panorama Wedding

Gillian and Coleman had a gorgeous winter wedding in Panorama, BC. They’re avid skiiers, so it was the perfect setting for them to say, “I do”. Their wedding day started with a first look before their intimate ceremony at the Grey Wolf Golf Course and reception at the on-site Cliffhanger Restaurant, where they’ve made plenty of memories together during the relationship.

I’ve always been a bit of a romantic, so getting to know each couple and hearing their love story is one of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer. Like many of us in this industry, I just love love—and Gillian and Coleman’s story feels like something out of a rom-com.

They’ve known each other since they were kids—Gillian played soccer with Coleman’s sister, and his dad even coached her team—but they stayed just friends. Coleman admits he had a crush on her back then, but life moved on. Years later, when Gillian moved back to Calgary, their paths crossed again. Things started slowly, but their friendship naturally evolved into something more. Over time, they realized they were meant to be. Now, they share a beautiful life and an adorable son, and their wedding day was the perfect way to celebrate their journey. Congratulations, Gillian and Coleman!

Why have a winter wedding in Panorama?

Skiing, skiing, and more skiing. If you love to hit the slopes, Panorama is perfect for you. You can spend your wedding weekend enjoying the powder with friends and family before you say, “I do”.
You don’t have to travel far to enjoy the outdoors. You can stay within walking distance of Panorama Mountain Resort (or right on site).
You can enjoy the outdoors at a slower pace with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Grey Wolf Golf Course is actually the site of the Panorama Nordic Centre, too.
Panorama is also only about 30 minutes from the town of Invermere, so there are plenty of accommodation options for guests.

Tips for winter wedding photos in Panorama

The sun goes down early — very early. If you want golden hour portraits, that’s going to happen sometime between 3 and 4 pm, depending on the month. We did Gillian and Coleman’s first look at 2:30 pm and their ceremony was at 5 pm (it was nearly dark by that point)
Be prepared. The weather changes quickly, especially in the mountains. Have a backup plan if you want to have your ceremony outdoors.
Dress for the weather (as much as possible). It’s difficult to bundle up while wearing wedding attire, but wearing boots underneath your gown, adding a cute coat (like Gillian did) or stuffing hand and foot warmers wherever you can will make a difference.
Don’t be afraid to ask for a break. Photographers don’t want you to look cold in your photos, so we’re happy to take breaks as needed.
