Frequently Asked Questions

WEDDINGS

WHAT IS YOUR BOOKING PROCESS?

Every booking begins with an initial meeting (phone or video call) to ensure we're the right fit. I then send a contract and invoice for your deposit. Once the contract is signed and the deposit is paid you're officially booked in!

DO YOU PROVIDE DIRECTION OR DO YOU FOCUS ON CANDID SHOTS?

My wedding style is a mix of both. I believe in letting moments unfold as they're meant to, especially getting ready, the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Candid shots from these parts of the day are some of my favourites, and they capture things you may miss during the whirlwind that is a wedding day. I provide some more direction during family photos, wedding party portraits and couples portraits, but this is only to help make everyone more comfortable and confident, not to create stiff poses.

DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS?
Absolutely. I understand that everyone's situation is different, and I don't want cost to prevent you from getting quality wedding photos. We can chat and figure out a plan you're comfortable with.

WE'RE GETTING MARRIED IN THE MOUNTAINS. ARE THERE TRAVEL FEES?

I love shooting in the mountains! There are no travel fees for Canmore or Kananaskis, but I do charge a flat $150 travel fee to go to Banff or Lake Louise due to the additional time and distance required. If the wedding takes place more than two hours from Calgary and we have an early start or a late finish (after 11 pm), there may be accommodation fees as well. I'm always up for travelling, so please let me know if you have another destination in mind and we'll make it happen!

DO YOU TAKE ON DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

Yes! I love to travel, so tell me where and when.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

Nothing will get in the way of making your day special! We'll use umbrellas or look for the perfect undercover area. As long as you’re happy to roll with the day, I am too! I always recommend having an indoor backup plan if you're getting married outdoors or planning outdoor photos.

WILL YOU HELP ME FIND VENDORS AND DESIGN MY TIMELINE?

I can recommend talented local vendors for various budgets, and I'm happy to assist you with timeline creation to make sure you're not feeling rushed on your wedding day. If you have a planner, I'll communicate with them to make sure we're on the same page.

DO YOU WORK WITH LGBTQ2S+ COUPLES?

Definitely!

DO YOU GIVE US THE RAW IMAGES?

To put it simply, no. When you hire me for your wedding, you are hiring me for my style. I will always include the best photos in your gallery.

DO WE HAVE TO DO AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION?

I highly recommend it! Most couples have never had professional photos done together, and an engagement session is a great opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera and with posing together (I'll talk you through that, don't worry). It's also a chance for us to hang out and get to know each other better before the big day. An engagement session means you'll end up with some fantastic images to use on things like your wedding website and save the dates, too. I always suggest booking your makeup trial for the same day so you can see how your desired look shows up in photos.

(Engagement sessions cannot be discounted from packages.)

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?

I'll send a sneak peek within 48 hours of your wedding day, and then the full gallery will be delivered within 90 days. I always try to get them finished sooner, but it does depend on my current workload. I always want to ensure each gallery looks its best!

HOW MUCH DO YOU EDIT THE IMAGES?

Retouching is a big part of my workflow, and it's what makes your images look polished and consistent—and it's not just adding a filter! Retouching is an art in itself, and I take a great deal of care with my colour grading, skin retouching, and even removing distracting things from the background (like wall outlets or things that can't be avoided while we're shooting).

PORTRAITS & BRANDING

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO POSE. DO YOU PROVIDE DIRECTION?

Always! One of the most common things I hear is that people are awkward on-camera or don't feel comfortable, and it's my job to make you feel confident during your session. I'll guide you through poses and prompts to help you look your best.

SHOULD I GET MY HAIR AND MAKEUP PROFESSIONALLY DONE?

I highly recommend it, especially makeup. Professional makeup artists know how apply makeup so it lasts and looks great in photos. Doing makeup for a photo session is different than doing your makeup for everyday wear. I can recommend talented hairstylists and makeup aritsts to help you out.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO WEAR. WILL YOU HELP ME?

Absolutely. I'll send you tips prior to your session, and you can always send me photos beforehand if you're having trouble deciding.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY IMAGES?

I'll send you a selects gallery within five days of your session, and the finished images will be delivered within 30 days of receiving your selections. I can get them finished faster if required, but this is dependent on the season and my current workload.

HOW MUCH RETOUCHING DO YOU DO?

Retouching is the final step in making your images look their best. I take a great deal of care in colour grading and removing distractions that aren't avoidable while we shoot. I also do light skin retouching that still looks natural. I do not retouch things that can be avoided by the client prior to the session, such as extra-wrinkled clothing (the odd one here and there can be removed), hair dye regrowth, tan lines, chipped nails, etc.
