I finished off my 2023 wedding season with Nicole and Sean's stylish New Year's Eve celebration at The Hemingway Room in the Ramsay Design Centre. I also got married here, and it was fun to be back as a photographer. They decided against getting-ready photos, so our time together began with their first look and portraits in The Parlour Room before gathering in the main venue space for their ceremony. The weather didn't cooperate for outdoor portraits, and starting later in the day meant the sun had already set, so we utilized the industrial decor around the Ramsay Design Centre. Wedding days are all about adapting, and your photographer will always help you find the best photo locations — no matter what the day has in store.
Nicole's gown was one of my favourites of the 2023 season, and it was perfect for a New Year's Eve wedding. Don't these two look like doppelgangers for Ryan Reynolds and Tessa Virtue? Their wedding was a lively one, and I'm sure the party kept going long after I left for the night — they opted to have me wrap before midnight. Their guests really dressed for the occasion too, with plenty of sparkly gowns and NYE party attire. This was my first New Year's Eve wedding, and I hope to do more. There's an infectious energy behind them since everyone there is not only celebrating the couple, but also the start of a new year.
The Commons is a fantastic venue to host a wedding at any time of year. The team is so helpful, and they've expanded their venue portfolio to include a variety or spaces for weddings of different sizes and budgets. We loved having our wedding there in 2022. Since then, they've teamed up with Chair Flair to provide couples with decor rentals and assistance. They also work with some fantastic preferred vendors — I'm lucky to be counted among them.
Congratulations, Nicole and Sean!
